Seoul Climate Card: is a short-term pass worth it?

Compare 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7-day passes with your own route budget. Include the physical card cost and check the recharge dates.

Updated Oct 2, 2026

A Climate Card can simplify a busy Seoul itinerary. Whether it saves money depends on the journeys you actually take. Start with your route budget below, including the card purchase if you need one. Tourist short-term passes continue under Seoul’s 2026 changes.

Which journeys should I include?

Include only routes covered by the short-term card during its validity. Airport buses and AREX Express need separate tickets. At Incheon T1/T2, the card permits exit after a covered all-stop journey, but not entry. Both budgets should cover the same journeys.

Compare your routes, not just a ride count

Write down each day’s hotel-to-first-stop, between-stop and return journeys. Use a route planner’s estimated fares, allowing for transfers. Keep a walking-heavy day separate from a day crossing the city: both may contain the same number of attractions but very different transport costs.

Choose the days you will really use

An evening recharge uses the first calendar day; it does not start a rolling 24-hour period. Place your travel days on a calendar before choosing a pass. For a late arrival followed by a full sightseeing day, compare paying separately that evening with starting the pass the next morning.

Keep the trip easy to change

Do not add extra stops just to make a pass look worthwhile. Group nearby places, leave time for meals and choose the option that suits that plan. If your budget comes out close, the ability to change your route may matter more than a small saving.

A good fit when…

  • Several journeys on covered routes during the chosen days.

Reconsider when…

  • Mostly walking, or frequent journeys outside the covered area.

Before you go

  • Confirm that every route entered is covered.
  • Plan the recharge day and airport journey separately.
