The Green Chips Seoul festival runs through October 25 at DDP. Browse materials and design ideas, note the shorter final-day hours, and keep shopping optional.

A design event can be useful even when you are not looking for another souvenir. Green Chips Seoul gives visitors a way to compare materials, everyday objects and the reasoning behind them. Treat it as a flexible browsing stop, with one or two ideas to investigate rather than an obligation to shop.

Start with the precise visitor information

The October 13 city announcement places the festival at DDP’s Eoullim Square, with a related Spectrum exhibition on the Design Trail and products in the Design Lab’s first-floor Play Store. Twenty businesses participate. The detailed visitor box gives October 15–24 hours of 11:00–20:00 and a shorter October 25 closing time of 18:00.

Those locations are different parts of a large design complex. Decide whether the outdoor area, exhibition or shop matters most to you, then check its current access information. Free entry does not make products free, and a festival closing time does not establish the conditions of every purchase.

Look at the object before the sustainability claim

The programme covers sustainable materials, inclusive design and design collaborations with smaller businesses. Product experiences and sales are among the announced elements. English labels or interpretation have not been confirmed in the notice.

Try asking a concrete question: what material is being reused, what can be repaired, and would you actually use the object after returning home? That approach is more informative than buying something only because it carries an environmental theme. Ask the seller about care, packaging and any delivery arrangement before paying.

Continue with something you can make

Keep the visit open-ended if you are already exploring Dongdaemun. A short design stop can work between larger plans, while someone especially interested in materials may prefer to leave an afternoon free. Recheck the organiser’s notice if you are travelling near the final day.

A separately booked stone-seal or fragrance workshop can take the interest in design into a hands-on activity. Compare the material, instruction language and item you take home. These are independent studios in other neighbourhoods, not workshops included in Green Chips Seoul.

Before you go

  • Check the correct DDP area and the shorter October 25 closing time.
  • Confirm prices and English assistance with individual sellers or organisers.
  • Choose a separate workshop date or allow a realistic transfer between neighbourhoods.

TAKE THE IDEA INTO YOUR TRIP

Explore related Seoul experiences

Continue the design theme with a stone-seal or fragrance-making class. These independent studio bookings are separate from the free DDP event.
