Visit Busan Pass: mobile or physical card?

Skip a collection stop or carry a rechargeable transport card too? Choose the pass format that fits your first day in Busan.

Updated Oct 2, 2026

Choose mobile if you want to start exploring without a collection stop. Choose a physical card if pickup fits your arrival plans and you would also like a rechargeable transport card. Picture your first day in Busan: the easier choice is usually the one that fits that day.

Mobile: one less stop on arrival

Keep the pass in the app you bought it through. A handy choice if you already have a transport card and prefer to manage bookings on your phone.

Physical: a card to keep with you

A good fit when you have time to collect it and want a rechargeable transport card too. Save the collection point on your map before leaving.

Start with the moment after you drop off your bags

Bags dropped off, coffee by Haeundae Beach, an observation deck in the afternoon and a walk around Mipo before dinner. Where would collecting a pass fit? Pin your hotel, first attraction and pickup point on the same map. If collection is on the way, a physical card could be handy. If it sends you across town, mobile leaves more of the afternoon free.

  1. Already have a transport card? Mobile can save you a collection stop.
  2. Need a transport card too? Check whether your booking’s pickup point fits your first journey.
  3. Planning to split up with friends? Ask the seller how each person can present their own pass.

Choose the one experience you most want to do today, then build around it. Nearby stops leave more time to enjoy the city.

What to show at the ticket desk

Head to the ticket desk when you arrive. Both formats let you collect an admission ticket there. Get familiar with these three steps before heading out.

Using a mobile pass

Head to your first attraction without a collection stop.

  1. Find the pass in your purchase app

Use VISIT BUSAN PASS for official purchases, or the app of the seller you booked through.

  2. Show the QR at the ticket desk

Open the live QR in the app. A screenshot or PDF cannot replace it.

  3. Collect your ticket and enjoy

The 24- or 48-hour clock starts when your first included attraction ticket is issued.

Using a physical card

Fit collection into your first journey.

  1. Collect at your designated pickup point

Bring your exchange voucher and passport or ID. Check the location and hours in your booking.

  2. Show the card at the attraction

Present the card you collected at the ticket desk, rather than the exchange voucher.

  3. Collect your ticket and enjoy

The sightseeing clock starts at the first included ticket issuance, not at card collection.

Keep a mobile pass bought through Klook or another seller in that seller’s app. It cannot be added to the official VISIT BUSAN PASS app.

Let your arrival time shape the first day

Arriving before lunch and checking in after dark call for different plans. Here are two ways to ease into your first day in Busan.

Arrive early, explore today

A physical card works well when collection is already on your route.

  1. Arrive & collect

Take your voucher and ID to the pickup point in your booking. Check that it is open when you arrive at the station or airport.

  2. Drop off bags & eat

Settle in and make time for lunch. Collecting the card alone does not start its sightseeing clock.

  3. Use the pass for the first time

Head to your chosen included attraction. The 24- or 48-hour clock begins when your first attraction ticket is issued.

Arrive late, start fresh tomorrow

Consider mobile if a collection stop would be difficult to fit in.

  1. Check in & find your pass

Sign in to the purchase app at your hotel. Check any reservations for the next day while you have your booking open.

  2. Dinner & a waterfront walk

Eat near your accommodation and enjoy the evening air. You can keep arrival night easy and leave your pass itinerary for tomorrow.

  3. Breakfast, then sightseeing

Bring your phone and a portable charger. Open the purchase app to show the QR at your first attraction’s ticket desk.

A 24-hour example: if your first included attraction ticket is issued at 1pm today, plan to use the pass before 1pm tomorrow. Check each attraction’s last admission time too.

Follow the coast from Haeundae towards Cheongsapo

Staying in Haeundae? Start by the beach and plan around Mipo and Cheongsapo. For a view from above, make X the Sky at Haeundae LCT your main stop. For harbour scenery and a slower afternoon, build around Cheongsapo instead. Try one of these suggested routes.

  1. A day for the view: Haeundae Beach → X the Sky → a meal and a walk in Mipo. Give one observation deck plenty of time and keep the rest relaxed.
  2. A day along the coast: Mipo → your chosen coastal ride → Cheongsapo harbour and a café. Decide how you will return before making evening plans.

Beach Train and Sky Capsule are different products. Match the name in your booking to the ride you want, then use the related guide to check boarding and pass options.

Two trips, two useful lessons

Some travellers enjoy packing in activities; others would rather leave room to linger. These two accounts offer different ways to think about your own trip.

For a trip filled with new experiences

Luge, a theme park and the Beach Train, with time to unwind at a spa. This account offers ideas for travellers who enjoy trying several activities.

For your own trip: choose your favourite experiences first, then group nearby stops together.

For a trip at your own pace

An existing transport card made mobile an easy choice. A tiring journey changed the theme-park plan; the writer later enjoyed the spa, Beach Train and X the Sky.

For your own trip: leave room for meals and breaks as well as travel time.

Borrow the places that appeal to you. Use the guides below to check current pass options, then leave room for a café or a walk on the beach.

A proper lunch break belongs in the itinerary too.

When you would rather leave the arrangements to a guide

A guided day can make several hands-on activities easier to fit together. Trazy’s Busan cultural tour combines painting in Gamcheon, taekwondo, kimbap making with lunch, and a yacht ride. Return transport and English, Japanese or Chinese guidance are included. Choose an independent day for long cafe stops and your own pace; choose a tour when you want the activities arranged for you.

This is a separate paid tour for international visitors, not a Busan Pass benefit. You can book for one, but departure needs ten participants in total.

Leave a separate line in the budget for transport

The physical card’s transport feature uses a balance you top up: it does not mean free buses or subway rides. With mobile, arrange a separate way to pay for public transport. Split your day’s budget into attractions, transport and food. It makes the trade-offs easier to see without letting a pass decide the whole trip.

Leave room in the day, and the budget, for a coffee break.

Choose the pass type, then the way to carry it

Mobile or physical describes how you present the pass. A 24- or 48-hour pass, BIG3 or BIG5 describes how you visit attractions. Start with the places you want to see and your travel dates, then choose the pass type and collection option. When comparing sellers, match both the type and format so the prices make sense side by side.

Already have a transport card? Think about the time a collection stop would take. The most useful extra might be a simpler arrival day.

A few things worth knowing

Can I top up the card before sightseeing?

Transport use is separate from the sightseeing clock. However, the official purchase guide says topping up or using the card for transport makes the pass non-refundable. If your plans may change, check your seller’s cancellation terms before adding a balance.

Does the 24-hour clock start at collection?

No. A 24- or 48-hour sightseeing pass starts with ticket issuance at the first free attraction, so collection and your first visit can be planned separately.

Can I collect a physical card after buying mobile?

The official purchase guide says a mobile pass cannot be issued as a physical card. Choose the physical option at purchase if you want its rechargeable transport feature.

Who can use the pass?

It is sold for foreign visitors. Current seller conditions exclude South Korean passport holders; check eligibility for everyone in your group before buying.

Before you go

  • Mobile: sign in to the purchase app and pack a charger. Physical: bring your exchange voucher and passport or ID
  • Reservations and last entry at your first attraction, plus your pickup point’s hours
  • A transport card with enough credit for buses and the subway
  • Your seller’s final price and cancellation terms
